Poll: Do You Like The New Entrecard Pricing

Leave your comment Posted by David
buy beer stocksAs many of you now know Entrecard.com has changed the way it calculates the cost of advertising on your widget. Gone are the days when you could by up hundreds of ads for just 2 credits now you are looking at thousands for the more popular blogs.

So how does the new system now work? Well now if you have 1 ad on your widget it would be worth 2 credits. When you add another you times it by 2 so it is now worth 4 credits. Look at the table below to see how the cost rises as more ads are placed on your widget.

  • 1 ad on widget = 2 credites
  • 2 ads on widget = 4 credites
  • 3 ads on widget = 8 credits
  • 4 ads on widget = 16 credits
  • 5 ads on widget = 32 credits
  • 6 ads on widget = 64 credits
  • 7 ads on widget = 128 credits
  • 8 ads on widget = 256 credits
  • 9 ads on widget = 512 credits
  • 10 ads on widget = 1024 credits

Some people find that this system is a lot better as it gives more people the chance of getting on the popular blogs widgets and others are dead against it. Let us know what you think by voting in our poll.

I don’t really understand why Graham felt to change the system of ad pricing.
What was the problem with the old pricing? It was good previously in my view.

I like it, It counters the “don’t place any ad and get to the top of entrecard” plan some blogers use. Also it ld stop the “first wave” the new users feel.

I agree with you Chetan. The previous pricing was more sensible to me. The new pricing made Entrecard much like BlogRush and Spottt, where those who will benefit the most are those who are already pro-bloggers or who have been already enjoying lots of traffic. The new changes virtually changed the way I look at entrecard - leveling the playing field - now, it isn’t. http://bloggista.com/2008/02/13/keeping-up-with-the-pros/

Hi! thanks for dropping by in my site.

I voted yes, because i definitely like the new pricing system. It shows now the valued site. It also gives us the message to work on our site to give a more quality site, then that is the time people will see that your site is the great place to buy ads rather than just random selection of sites.

This is also a great system to eliminate the abusers. If you work with your entrecard and your site you get people buying ads on your site, if you see no one advertising on your site..that is saying that you need to work more harder, go out and drop and you will see the difference.

the new method sucks

At first Entrecard was great for the smaller blog site. But as usual
they change things to suit the more popular bloggers.

I don’t like it.

The old method actually had statistics behind it to help you decide how valuable the site will be. The new method just tells you how many other people are blindly advertising on the site.

Here’s what the pricing means to me:

1. New sites get jumped on by bargain shoppers who don’t know anything about the site and don’t care to know.

2. The next wave that comes in are those who are bargain shoppers but who prefer to pay a little more to have someone else weed out the totally useless sites. They pay 4 credits just on the basis that someone else paid 2.

3. Repeat #2 at each succeeding price point.

A site can get up to 1024 in a day with no one really knowing anything about how valuable the site is.

The old method : More traffic, more addicted to use their service.
The New method : Lesser traffic, not much to addicted on.

Really a big changes, if is the old method, i am sure that i can gain more traffic.

Honestly, it doesn’t make a difference as long as it drives traffic I will use it. As soon as it doesn’t anymore, I will stop. Simple as that.

I’m here a little late, but I definitely see the pricing starting to level off as they said it would. I’m not sure how I feel personally, I don’t advertise solely on price.

i am noticing a significant rise in advertising on my blog no matter what the price is at day to day.
