Affiliate Marketing - Lets Be Controversial

The following is a guest post by Steve from Adsenseaddict once you have read his post why not pop over to his blog as im sure you will find plenty of excellent content.

Lately i have been looking into affiliate marketing to make money online, so when i was asked to submit a guest post for generalmarketing.com, my first thought was do i post something safe or controversial? I decided on the controversial

Over the last few weeks i have visited a lot of websites and read a lot of ebooks on the subject of affiliate marketing and all of them basically say the same boring thing. You need to spend money to make money online and there are no decent free ways to do this.

Probably it is because i am a scrooge but i didn’t believe most of what i read, and what, you want me follow the same methods thousands of others sites use and watch someone else get rich, yeh right. Also i like a challenge.

Here’s one idea on how to make money online i saw - write a ebook. So i thought i would write one on “How to attract thousands of visitors to your site” and flog it off for $10. When i really started to think about this, i saw two problems, there are enough crappy ebooks out there already and it would have only been 1 sentence, Sign up to Entrecard.com (just joking)

Here are some more of my twisted thoughts as i read about affiliate marketing:

Get a domain name - i spent days thinking of the one i am using now and most of the good ones are taken. You want me to do this 10 times, yeah right

Setup a website - i spent days searching for a decent template and tried many different ones before i found this one. Do i use the same one 10 times or find 10 different ones, yeh right.

Create a landing page - Most landing pages look like dodgy sales pages i usually leave before they fully load. Do you want me to create another 10 rubbish ones like the millions already out there, yeh right.

Sign up for a auto responder - Most start at $15 + a month and looking at the normal stats it would probably take me up to 6 months before i make a sale using this method, so there goes $100. Isn’t there a free method i could use till at least i make revenue from other source so i can pay for one?

Advertise and SEO optimize your sites - Sign up to Google AdWords and use other advertising methods - I haven’t the cash to spend on that yet, isn’t there a free way to achieve this? I spent hours doing seo on one blog you want me to do this for 10 websites, yeah right.

Well i might have found a way which is totally different, easy to do (just like writing a post) and best of all it is FREE.

Over the next week i will be doing a series of posts on how i have done this. So if you are a beginner to affiliate marketing and do not have much cash to begin a decent affiliate marketing campaign, check out adsenseaddict.com and see how you can start to make money online with affiliate marketing.

I like the way you are thinking; I am also very interested in affiliate marketing and have just signed up to a free Autoresponder service (even though I haven’t been using it yet) as I have a plan as well (which i badly need to think through before I go ahead with it. Yes there are free autoresponder services out there that you can use with free webpages and they will work if you make sure that your subscribers whitelist your email address so that your emails don’t get lost in your junk pages.
